The role of a birth doula is to provide physical and emotional support to mothers and their partners during labor so that she is more likely to achieve the birth she desires.
 
Studies have shown that women who have been supported by doulas during labor are:
28% less likely to give birth by cesarean section
31% less likely to use synthetic oxytocin to help speed up labor
9% less likely to use any pain medication, including anesthesia
34% less likely to rate their birth experience as negative

As your birth doula, I will provide individualized care that includes:
 
Up to two prenatal visits 

Prenatal phone consultations

Labor support during active labor

One hour of care following baby's birth

One postpartum visit at about 12 days postpartum
